Description

This wide field image shows a large nebular complex, LBN 292, in the constellation Cygnus. It is composed primarily of hydrogen and dust, carved and folded by the energy of the nearby stars. At the center of the image are two reflection nebulas, vdB131 and vdB132. Together these two nebula are cataloged NGC 6914.

These data, collected in 2019, are very good quality with HFR ranging from 1.7-2.0 and deserved substantial processing exploration. In my original 2019 post of the SHO rendition of these data I state, “I will be posting alternative processing of these data in the future.” So, three years later, here we go. In this processing effort I employed several new noise reduction, star management, and color palette control approaches that I developed in the last few years. I have posted three images in this processing study, including

Original – RGB with Ha
Combining RGB/Ha luminance image and Ha starless image using NBRGB script in PixInsight.

Version H – SHO starless
Combining starless NB channels (Ha, OIII, SII) and starless master luminance (Ha and SII) using PixInsight LRGB Combine tool .

Version J - SHO with RGB stars
Combining starless NB channels (Ha, OIII, SII) with RGB star map using PixInsight Pixel Math.


These three renditions reveals different aspects of this complex region that has emission, dark, and reflection nebulae features.
